eMarketer reported on a study by Strongmail that said that this year social media will make email marketing more powerful.

“Even though people are spending more time using social media, they are not abandoning e-mail,” said Debra Aho Williamson, eMarketer senior analyst and author of the new report, “Maximizing the E-Mail/Social Media Connection.” “The two channels can help each other, offering the opportunity for marketers to create deeper connections.”

More than 40% of the businesses surveyed said that integrating email and social media was one of their most important initiatives for 2010.

We couldn’t agree more with this report, and from what we’re seeing, small businesses are using the VerticalResponse Social Sharing feature which posts a hosted version of an email marketing campaign to Twitter and Facebook to get more reach. It seems to be working since a pretty high percentage of our customers are using the feature.

Are you publishing your emails to Twitter and Facebook? If so how is it working?
