There’s no place like home for Facebook. Today the company announced  Home – “a new way to turn your Android phone into a great, living, social phone.”  According to Facebook, “Home isn’t a phone or operating system, and it’s also more than just an app. Home is a completely new experience that lets you see the world through people, not apps.”

Mashable reports, “Facebook Home will put updates from the social network right on the home screen via a feature called Cover Feed.” Your Facebook content will take up the entire screen and you can easily navigate it by swiping. Your apps are also still accessible through a launcher that, you guessed it, you can get to with a simple swipe.

Keep Chatting with Chat Heads

Say you are in the middle of checking email and a chat comes in from your pal. With Chat Heads,” a chat head appears with your friend’s face, so you see exactly who you’re chatting with”, according to Facebook. They also add, “you can move chat heads around and respond to messages. And since SMS is integrated into Facebook Messenger for Android, chat heads include Facebook messages as well as texts.”

When Can You Get It?

iPhone owners may be a bit bummed that Apple’s TOS doesn’t allow the type of access that Facebook more that likely wanted for Home, because it’s only  “available as a free download from the Google Play Store starting April 12. Home works on the HTC One X, HTC One X+, Samsung GALAXY S III and Samsung GALAXY Note II. Home will also work on the forthcoming HTC One and Samsung GALAXY S4, and on more devices in the coming months.”
