Create Newsworthy Email Newsletters
Email newsletters are still one of the most effective email marketing tactics. Newsletters allow you to stay in touch with your network, update customers about important developments and stay top of mind.
Professional writer Amanda Clark recently wrote a helpful article full of tips on writing newsworthy newsletters. Some of Clark’s tips include:
Know Your Brand Voice
Pick an identifiable writing style that illustrates your business’ personality, and a tone that conveys the appropriate message you’re looking to get across. Make sure your brand voice matches across all channels (newsletter, website, blog, social media, etc.). Consistency is key.
Start off Strong
Pick a subject that will pique readers’ interests and get them to click through the email. Start your newsletter off with a strong introduction and keep the flow throughout.
Make it Professional
Clark writes, “Make sure the formatting of your newsletter is professional and easy on the eyes. Uniformity from one newsletter to the next helps to further your brand identity.”
Use Photos
Not just because people want something pretty to look at, but because photos are better at communicating emotion and offer an instant connection to something.
Include a Call to Action
Don’t just send newsletters for the purpose of sending something, make sure there is a business purpose behind everything you send. Clark writes, “In order to make the most out of your mailing, you’ll want to help guide readers to a particular action, whether it’s downloading an e-book or signing up for a new course you’re teaching. This message will make your newsletter worthwhile for both your business and your readers.”
Email newsletters remain one of the most powerful email marketing tools for businesses. Follow these tips to help get the most value out of your next newsletter. What other tips do you think should be included on this list?
