Facebook’s Promoted posts have arrived! If you want to get your post read by more people than those you DON’T pay for go ahead and pay $7. According to Facebook they’d like it to be used for things like garage sales, parties, wedding photos and other important announcements. The jury is still out on whether it’s going to pollute Facebook.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Facebook Promoted posts can be seen by people with fewer than 5,000 total friends or subscribers.

When you publish a post to your timeline you’ll see a “Promote” link which for a few bucks makes it display higher in your follower’s feeds. Normally a few of your friends see your posts but with a Promoted post more will. You’ll also be able to see how many people saw it and compare it to if you didn’t pay to get it higher.
