Lessons from Day One at South by “Southwet”
It’s a grey rainy day here at South by Southwest as day one of the Interactive festival gets underway. And the rain isn’t the only thing dampening the spirits of attendees; Long lines for shuttles and overbooked sessions at the AT&T Conference Center left many, even those arriving nearly two hours prior to their scheduled sessions, out in the rain with zero sessions to attend.
We did, however, stop by the Driskill Hotel and popped into the South by Southwest Newbie Meetup where we swapped Twitter handles with fellow newbies and were given advice and insight including:
- Arrive early for sessions (as in hours, not minutes).
- Have lots of patience.
- Panels are great, but the people you meet are what makes your SXSW experience.
Next, we stopped into the Samsung blogger lounge to pen this post and wait for our 5 pm sessions: How to Rank Higher in Google & Bing, and Spreadable Media: Value, Meaning & Network Culture. We’ll bring you our learnings soon. Until then, send us sunny vibes and we’ll keep bringing you the latest Skadeedle experiences from SXSW 2013.
